BAGHDAD -- The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iraqi Shiite militia, claimed responsibility Saturday for launching rockets toward the Ayn al-Asad Airbase in Iraq's western province of Anbar.

The militia group said in an online statement that its fighters launched a "rocket barrage" on the Ayn al-Asad Airbase near the town of al-Baghdadi, some 190 km northwest of the capital Baghdad. (Iraq-U.S.-Base-Attacks)

BEIRUT -- Two Hamas members were killed on Saturday morning in an Israeli drone strike targeting their vehicle in Bazourieh, a municipality in southern Lebanon, local TV channel MTV reported.

Israel continued on Saturday its raids in southern Lebanon by targeting the village of Al-Adaysseh. Moreover, its artillery shelling targeted the southern villages of Aita al-Shaab and al-Dhahira, according to the National News Agency (NNA). (Israel-Lebanon-Border-Tension)

KHARTOUM -- Sudan's Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday the country has frozen its membership in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), an East African bloc.

Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, informed the president of the current session of the IGAD of Sudan's decision to freeze its membership in the bloc, the ministry said in a statement. (Sudan-IGAD-Membership)

TEHRAN -- Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi condemned Israel's "cowardly assassination" of five Iranian "military advisers" in Syria on Saturday, vowing that the country will respond to the Israeli "terrorist" attacks.

Raisi made the remarks in a statement published on the website of his office while extending condolences on the deaths of the five members of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in an Israeli airstrike on Saturday morning on a residential neighborhood in the Syrian capital Damascus.
