MONTREUX, Switzerland, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Top seed Felix Lebrun of France lost 4-2 to his elder brother Alexis Lebrun in the quarterfinals of table tennis Europe Top 16 Cup here on Saturday.

This was the first loss to a European player in seven months for world No. 8 Felix, who won the men's singles title at the European Games on June 27, 2023.

Alexis, also Felix's partner for the doubles event, won 8-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-9, 5-11, 11-9.

"I cannot recall playing this well like I did today. I think since the European Games, I have not had such a high level of game," Alexis said.

Defending champion Darko Jorgic of Slovenia booked a berth in Sunday's semifinals after beating Anton Kallberg of Sweden 4-2.

In the women's competition, last year's semifinalist Shao Jieni of Portugal lost to Bernadette Szocs of Romania 4-1 in round of 16, and reigning champion Han Ying of Germany was absent from the tournament.

European champion Sofia Polcanova of Austria cruised into the semifinals with a 4-1 win over Prithika Pavade of France. Enditem
