TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has said that the expansion of cultural relations between his country and Türkiye is of great importance.

Raisi made the remarks in a meeting with a number of Iranian nationals residing in Türkiye at the end of his one-day trip to Ankara on Wednesday, according to a statement published on his office's website on Thursday.

He said the Iran-Türkiye relations were developed based on the historical bond and religious commonalities shared by the two countries and peoples.

Raisi added that given the two sides' mutual will to improve the level of bilateral relations, Iranian nationals living in Türkiye could play an important role in helping implement the decisions made to that end.

He called on the Iranians in Türkiye to maintain their connection and that of their children with their identity, culture and ancestral land.

The Iranian president highlighted the necessity to promote Persian learning in Türkiye, considering the existing enthusiasm among the Turkish people for learning the language. He also called for removing the obstacles to renovating Iranian schools and educational centers in Türkiye.

During Raisi's visit, Iran and Türkiye signed 10 cooperation agreements in several fields, including energy, tourism, trade, and communication. Enditem
