HELSINKI -- The presidential candidate for the National Coalition and former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb will face the independent Green candidate, former Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, in the second round of Finland's presidential election on Feb. 11.

According to the preliminary calculation of all the votes published by the Ministry of Justice on Sunday night, Stubb received 27.2 percent support, followed by Haavisto with 25.8 percent. Jussi Halla-aho, candidate of the Finns Party and speaker of the Parliament of Finland, garnered 19 percent support. (Finland-Election)

ISTANBUL -- One person was killed on Sunday in an armed attack on an Italian church in Türkiye's largest city Istanbul, said Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

Yerlikaya said on social media platform X that two masked people organized the attack at the Santa Maria Church in the Sariyer district on the European side of the city at around 11:40 a.m. local time (0840 GMT). (Türkiye-Armed Attack-Istanbul Church)

MOROGORO, Tanzania -- Morogoro Region in eastern Tanzania is getting ready for massive cultivation of cloves and other spices, authorities said on Sunday.

Mussa Ali Mussa, Morogoro regional administrative secretary, said 400,000 clove seedlings have already been grown and will be distributed to farmers free of charge. (Tanzania-Agriculture-Cloves)

ABUJA -- The 15-member Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Sunday officially asserted Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger remain integral members of the regional bloc in response to an earlier declaration by the military junta in each respective country, stating their intention to withdraw membership.
