BANGKOK -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Monday that China appreciates Thailand for upholding the one-China principle.

Wang made the remarks during his meeting with Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, noting that the Taiwan question is a matter of sovereignty and territorial integrity of China. (Thailand-China-Relations)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan and Iran on Monday agreed to establish a high-level consultative mechanism to oversee the progress in various areas of cooperation between the two countries, including counter-terrorism.

In a joint press briefing held here, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Pakistani counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani said that the foreign ministers will lead the mechanism which will meet in Iran and Pakistan alternatively. (Pakistan-Iran-Counter terrorism)

COLOMBO -- A Sri Lankan fishing trawler, together with its six crew members, which was hijacked by Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea on Saturday, was rescued by the Seychelles Coast Guard, said the Sri Lankan navy on Monday.

Gayan Wickramasuriya, media director of the navy, told journalists that three pirates have also been arrested, and the rescued Sri Lankan fishermen and the multi-day fishing vessel named Lorenzo Putha 4 were being taken to the capital of the Seychelles. (Sri Lanka-Somali Pirates-Rescue)

TOKYO -- In a significant blow to the Japanese automaker, Toyota Motor Corp. said on Monday that power output data had been manipulated for 10 of its models sold globally.

The manipulation occurred at Toyota Industries Corp., an affiliate of the automaker, which fabricated data on diesel engines supplied for various models, including the Land Cruiser 300 and the Hilux. (Japan-Toyota-Data Rigging)

YAREN -- The reopening ceremony of the Chinese embassy in Nauru was held on Monday evening in a hotel in the southeastern part of the Pacific island country.

A plaque of the Chinese embassy was unveiled by Nauru's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Lionel Aingimea and Luo Zhaohui, head of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, who participated in the event as a representative of the Chinese government.
