Poverty rate in Mongolia declines to 27.1 pct in 2022

ULAN BATOR, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's poverty rate declined to 27.1 percent in 2022 from 27.8 percent in 2020, a survey conducted jointly by the country's National Statistics Office (NSO) and the World Bank showed Wednesday.

"As of 2022, the poverty threshold for an average adult in Mongolia was 418,090 Mongolian tugriks (123 U.S. dollars) per month, and 914,200 citizens of Mongolia's total population lived below the poverty threshold," Mashir Oyuntsetseg, a senior statistician of the NSO, told a press conference.

In addition, data from the NSO showed that there were 346,400 people who lived close to the poverty threshold in the Asian country with a population of 3.5 million. Enditem
