PHNOM PENH -- A nine-year-old boy from northeastern Cambodia's Kratie province had died of H5N1 avian influenza, the first death from the virus in the country so far this year, the Ministry of Health said in a statement on Friday.

"Laboratory results from the National Institute of Public Health showed on Thursday that the boy was positive for H5N1 bird flu," the ministry said. (Cambodia-Bird Flu)

TOKYO -- World-renowned Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa died on Tuesday at the age of 88 due to heart failure, local media reported on Friday.

Ozawa, known for his work with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and other world-famous ensembles, suffered a series of health problems in recent years which forced him to cancel some of his concert and music festival appearances, Kyodo News reported. (Japan-Conductor-Ozawa)

NEW DELHI -- Five people went missing after a boat carrying them capsized in a river in India's eastern state of West Bengal, police said Friday.
