BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Second-seeded Sebastian Baez was among three Argentines to reach the semifinals of the ATP 250 Cordoba Open on Friday as he swept aside compatriot Facundo Diaz Acosta 6-3, 6-1.

Baez won 77% of his first service points and converted five from five break points to prevail in one hour and five minutes on the outdoor clay of the Polo Deportivo Complex in Cordoba.

The victory came less than 12 hours after his 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Bolivia's Hugo Dellien. The round-of-16 clash had been originally scheduled for Thursday but was postponed due to rain.

"It's tough, but it's something I can handle," Baez said. "The rain, the weather is like that. I'm happy to win this match because it was very tough and I'm happy to be in the next round."

Fellow Argentines Federico Coria and Facundo Bagnis also progressed to the last four.

Coria overcame compatriot Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-3, 6-4, while Bagnis outclassed Spain's Jaume Munar 7-5, 6-4.

Bagnis will meet Coria in Saturday's first semifinal with the showdown between Baez and Italian Luciano Darderi to follow. Enditem
