ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani security forces have killed a high-value terrorist during an intelligence-based operation in the country's southwest Balochistan province, the military said in a statement.

The operation was conducted in the Qila Saifullah district of the province on the reported presence of terrorists in the area, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani army's media wing, said in a statement late Friday. (Pakistan-Counter Terrorism)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara said on Saturday that worker remittances in January 2024 are 11.4 percent higher than in January 2023.

Posting on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Nanayakkara said worker remittances for January 2024 were 487.6 million U.S. dollars, as compared to 437.5 million dollars in January 2023. (Sri Lanka-Remittances)

MANILA -- The death toll in a massive landslide that crashed into villages in Davao de Oro province in southern Philippines has climbed to 35 from 27, with 77 others remaining missing, authorities said on Saturday.

The Maco municipal government said 32 have been rescued from the landslide, which occurred Tuesday night near a mining site in Maco town and buried several houses and vehicles, including two buses that ferry miners of the site. (Philippines-Landslide-Death Toll)

ISLAMABAD -- A policeman and three terrorists were killed in a clash in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, official sources said.

The terrorists attacked a police van near a police station in Dera Ismail Khan district of the province, killing the policeman right at the spot, the officials told Xinhua. (Pakistan-KP-Clash) Enditem
