BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Alan Lescano scored twice as Argentinos Juniors rose to the top of their group with a 4-2 home win over Banfield in Argentina's Primera Division on Saturday.

Geronimo Rivera put the visitors ahead with an eighth-minute strike before Gaston Veron equalized from the penalty spot.

Lescano gave the hosts the lead when he headed home in the 26th minute and Leonardo Heredia made it 3-1 by nodding in just after the hour.

Argentinos Juniors were in irresistible form and Lescano extended their lead with a nerveless finish on the counterattack after Maxi Romero's pass.

The visitors pulled a goal back through Juan Quintana, who combined with Bruno Sepulveda before firing into the top-left corner 12 minutes from time.

The result leaves Argentinos Juniors with eight points from four games, a point clear of second-placed River Plate in Group A. Banfield are last in the 14-team group with just one point so far.

In Saturday's other Primera Division fixtures, Boca Juniors were held to a goalless home draw by Defensa y Justicia, Central Cordoba won 3-0 at home to Sarmiento and Godoy Cruz prevailed 1-0 at Belgrano. Enditem
