KABUL, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Acting Deputy Prime Minister on Political Affairs Mawlawi Abdul Kabir has said that the upcoming UN-sponsored Doha conference aims to encourage the world community to focus on engagement with Afghanistan, local media outlet TOLOnews reported Monday.

"We have been assured that the upcoming meeting of Doha will be aimed at encouraging the world to engage with the Islamic Emirate," TOLOnews quoted Kabir on Monday as saying.

In the Doha conference scheduled for Feb. 18-19, the situation in Afghanistan and the increasing international community's engagement in a coordinated manner with the ruling administration in the war-torn country would be reportedly discussed.

Although the Afghan caretaker government has been ruling Afghanistan since the withdrawal of the U.S.-led forces from the country in August 2021, most countries have not granted official diplomatic recognition to the interim establishment even though several embassies are operational in Kabul.

Kabir has earlier said that Afghanistan's 38 embassies are operational abroad.

The Afghan senior official also noted that the Afghan administration has met all conditions for recognition and asked regional countries to recognize it. Enditem
