Asian Cup winner Qatar up to 37th in FIFA ranking

GENEVA, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Newly-crowned Asian Cup winner Qatar has vaulted to 37th, up 21 positions, in the latest FIFA World Ranking released on Thursday by world football's governing body.

Qatar collected 92.04 points after retaining the title at home, while runner-up Jordan went up 17 positions to 70th.

Thailand moved up 12 places to 101st with its last-16 finish in the Asian Cup, while Tajikistan marked its maiden Asian Cup appearance with its highest-ever ranking of 99th.

Elsewhere, Cote d'Ivoire is ranked 39th, up 10 places, after winning the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil, while finalist Nigeria jumped to 28th, up 14 places.

Angola became the biggest climber in the global rankings, rising 24 places to 93rd despite losing to Nigeria in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Enditem
