LONDON, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Roy Hodgson looks to have taken charge of his last game as head coach of Crystal Palace after being taken ill in a training session on Thursday, with the club looking for a replacement.

The 76-year-old former England coach was unable to take a press conference after feeling unwell and needing medical treatment, with the club issuing a statement to inform that "Roy Hodgson was taken ill during this morning's training session."

The oldest ever coach in the Premier League has been under ever-increasing pressure after a run of poor results, with just four wins in 18 matches leaving Palace in a battle to avoid relegation.

Fans had become increasingly critical of Hodgson's unadventurous tactics and a perceived lack of ambition from the club.

A 3-1 home loss to Chelsea on Monday led Palace chairman Steve Parish to start a concerted search for a replacement.

Former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner is reported to have held advanced talks with Parish, after an attempt to sign Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna failed.

Having managed the club from 2017 to 2021, Hodgson returned to Palace 11 months ago after Patrick Vieira was sacked, and ultimately averted the threat of relegation and led the club to safety.

Hodgson said recently that this season was "the toughest period of my career, for one reason that the fans have turned so much against us." Enditem
