DAR ES SALAAM, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania has been reelected as a member of the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council (PSC) with a two-year mandate effective April 1, 2024, the PSC announced Thursday via X, formerly Twitter.
It also mentioned nine other members of the elected, namely, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Uganda, Egypt, Angola, Botswana, Cote d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, and the Gambia.
The PSC is the standing decision-making organ of the AU for the prevention, management, and resolution of conflict.
Following Tanzania's reelection, Tanzanian Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, January Makamba, reposted the AU organ's information and thanked those who voted for Tanzania.
