TEHRAN, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were killed and three others injured on Saturday in a collision between a semi-trailer truck and a sedan on an intercity road in the eastern Iranian province of South Khorasan, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.

The incident occurred at 15:00 local time (1130 GMT) on the road connecting Qaen and Birjand counties, Tasnim quoted Mohammad-Ali Kavousi, head of the provincial Red Crescent Society, as saying.

Noting that the sedan was a taxi, Kavousi said the injured individuals have been taken to medical facilities by rescuers.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Enditem
