Cambodia, Canada sign MoU on establishment of bilateral consultations

PHNOM PENH, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia and Canada on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of bilateral consultations between foreign ministries of the two countries, according to a news release from the Cambodian Foreign Ministry.

The deal was inked in Phnom Penh between Chhouk Bunna, director-general of the General Department of Europe, Americas, and Africa-Middle East of the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, and Alan Bowman, director-general for Southeast Asia and Oceania of Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, the news release said.

Prior to the signing, Bowman held talks with Cambodian Foreign Ministry's Secretary of State Chum Sounry, touching on the promotion of relations and cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

Sounry termed the signing as another milestone in Cambodia-Canada bilateral relations, the news release said.

Both sides also discussed agenda and mutually convenient date for the first session of bilateral consultations to be held within this year, according to the news release.

Bowman was on a working visit to Cambodia from Monday to Wednesday. Enditem
