JERUSALEM, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems on Wednesday unveiled a multi-mission unmanned aerial system (UAS) called the Hermes 650 Spark.
Elbit said in a statement that the new medium-altitude next-generation UAS can carry payloads weighing up to a combined 120 kg across eight modular storage stations, including two significant payload bays in the fuselage and six hard points on the wings.
In addition to its capability to handle multiple payloads, the UAS also features the simultaneous integration of high-quality electro-optics, radar, signals intelligence, and other advanced functions.
It allows for adaptable payload configurations suitable for a range of operations such as the air drop of life rafts.
The drone features a service ceiling of 22,000 feet (6,706 meters), a 24-hour endurance, a maximum speed of 222 km/h, and a range of up to 300 km.
The UAS, equipped with auto-taxi and auto-take-off and landing capabilities, can operate from short runways. Enditem
