YANGON -- Myanmar's State Administration Council imposed martial law in Momeik and Mabein townships in Shan state of eastern Myanmar on Wednesday, the official television channel MRTV reported.

According to the media report, the council said in its order statement that the martial law was imposed to ensure security, uphold the rule of law, and maintain peace and stability in the region. (Myanmar-Martial law)

JAKARTA -- A joint search and rescue team is still searching for nine missing people in a landslide on a highway that has killed five people in the eastern Indonesian province of South Sulawesi, an official said on Wednesday.

The landslide occurred in Luwu regency, around 340 kilometers from the province's capital of Makassar, on Monday morning with rescuers evacuating four bodies. Another body buried by the landslide was found on Tuesday. (Indonesia-Landslide)

SINGAPORE -- Singapore Air Force will order eight F-35A fighter jets to complement its previous purchase of 12 units of F-35B jets, Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen told the Parliament Wednesday.

The eight F-35A jets will arrive in Singapore by 2030 if the Parliament approves the budget, Ng added. (Singapore-Military-Air Force)

ISLAMABAD -- At least six people were killed and 15 others injured on Tuesday as a bus fell into a ditch in Haripur district of Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the rescue service reported.

The rescue service said that the accident took place in the evening in Khanpur area of the district due to overspeeding, resulting in the casualties. (Pakistan-Road Accident) Enditem
