HELSINKI -- Alexander Stubb took office as the 13th president of Finland on Friday during a session of the Finnish parliament.

BEIRUT -- Four Hezbollah fighters were killed and three other people were wounded on Friday in Israeli air strikes targeting a village in the border region of southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.

The sources, who spoke anonymously, said that the casualties were caused by several Israeli raids on the village of Ramyah in the Bent Jbeil district in southern Lebanon. (Israel-Lebanon-Tension)

WARSAW -- A car struck a crowd at a tram stop in the northwestern Polish city of Szczecin on Friday afternoon, injuring 19 people, including six minors, police and local media said.

The incident occurred at Rodla Square in Szczecin at around 3 p.m. (1400 GMT) when a man drove a car into the crowd for unknown reasons. The motorist continued driving before crashing into three other vehicles, the Polish Press Agency (PAP) reported, citing Pawel Pankau, an officer from Szczecin's municipal police headquarters. UNITED NATIONS -- Around 9,000 women have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since the outbreak of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinians on Oct. 7, 2023, said UN Women on Friday.
