KATHMANDU -- Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday broke his coalition with the Nepali Congress party and reshuffled the cabinet.

Dahal, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center), joined hands with the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and after removing all the cabinet ministers, he initially introduced three ministers into the new cabinet, with one from the CPN-UML and the others from CPN (Maoist Center) and the Rastriya Swatantra Party. MANILA -- The Philippines' debt rose to 14.79 trillion pesos (roughly 263.57 billion U.S. dollars) as of end-January, a 1.19 percent increase from the total outstanding debt recorded in end-December 2023, the Philippines' Bureau of Treasury said over the weekend.

The bureau attributed the rise in January debt from the previous month's level to the net issuance of domestic securities and the effect of its currency peso depreciation. (Philippines-Debt-January)

ISLAMABAD -- Shahbaz Sharif took the oath as the 24th elected prime minister of Pakistan during a ceremony held at the President's House on Monday afternoon, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
