VIENTIANE, March 7 (Xinhua) -- The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Attapeu provincial office have handed over a solar-powered irrigation system to the provincial agriculture and forestry office in Sanamxay district of southern Laos' Attapeu province.

The irrigation system was provided under the "Building Climate-Resilient and Eco-friendly Agriculture Systems and Livelihoods" project, funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Lao News Agency reported on Thursday.

The project aims to strengthen Attapeu province's resilience to climate-related disasters and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

The project identified seven villages in Attapeu province, some 560 km southeast of the Lao capital Vientiane, for the innovative irrigation system.

The system addresses water scarcity, particularly in rural areas with limited access to electricity, by utilizing solar power. Enditem
