SEOUL -- A 29-ton fishing boat carrying nine people capsized early Saturday morning near the waters off Yokjido Island in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province of South Korea.

LOS ANGELES -- More than 100 flu-associated pediatric deaths have been reported in the United States so far this season, according to data released Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Seasonal influenza activity remains elevated nationally with increases in some parts of the country. The CDC estimates that there have been at least 28 million illnesses, 310,000 hospitalizations, and 20,000 deaths from flu so far this season. (U.S.-CDC-Flu)

BAGHDAD -- An intelligence official of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) was killed and a PKK militant injured in a Turkish drone strike in Iraq's northern province of Nineveh, according to a statement from the Counter-Terrorism Service of Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

The attack took place at 5:30 p.m. local time (1430 GMT) near Sinjar, about 120 kilometers west of Mosul, the provincial capital of Nineveh. Earlier in the day, a separate Turkish airstrike in the Duhok province resulted in two fatalities and one injury, a Kurdish security official reported. (Iraq-Turkish drone strike-PKK)

ZANZIBAR, Tanzania -- At least eight children have died and 78 adults have fallen sick after eating sea turtle meat on Panza Islet, Pemba Island in Tanzania's Zanzibar, an official said Friday.

Haji Bakari Haji, Mkoani District medical officer, said samples examined in a medical laboratory confirmed that the victims died after they had eaten sea turtle meat. Haji said the victims ate the meat Tuesday, but the incident was not reported to authorities until Friday for fear of being reprimanded. (Tanzania-Sea turtle consuming-Death)

DHAKA -- At least 10 people were killed and about a dozen others injured in two separate road mishaps in Bangladesh on Friday.

Md Ashikuzzaman, a senior police officer, told journalists that seven people were killed in a three-vehicle collision involving a bus, a motorcycle and an autorickshaw in Pirojpur district, some 185 km southwest of the capital Dhaka. (Bangladesh-Road accidents) Enditem
