MEXICO CITY, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Necaxa rose to seventh in Mexico's Liga MX standings on Friday with a 3-1 home victory over San Luis.
Diego Gomez put the hosts ahead with a low finish just before the half-hour but Aldo Cruz equalized by slotting home against the run of play in first-half injury time.
Braian Samudio restored Necaxa's lead by heading into the bottom right corner following a Brayan Garnica cross.
The hosts put the result beyond doubt through Edgar Mendez, who bundled home from close range after Gomez's pass on the counterattack.
The result leaves Necaxa with 18 points from 11 games, only four points behind leaders Monterrey, while San Luis are 12th, eight points further back.
In other Liga MX fixtures on Friday, Toluca drew 1-1 at Juarez, and Puebla were held to a 2-2 home draw by Atlas. Enditem
