ISLAMABAD -- Ruling coalition candidate Asif Ali Zardari won the presidential election of Pakistan with an overwhelming lead on Saturday, the Election Commission of Pakistan announced.

Zardari won the election by taking 411 votes from all the electoral colleges, including parliament and four provincial assemblies, the commission said. (Pakistan-President)

JAKARTA -- The death toll of floods and landslides in Indonesia's West Sumatra province rose to 19, and 7 others were still missing, a senior official of the disaster agency said on Saturday.

The province has been stricken by the natural disaster since Thursday as the rivers could not accommodate excessive waters from heavy downpours, said Muharrindo Idwan, senior official at the provincial disaster management and mitigation agency. (Indonesia-Floods-Death-1st LD)

JAKARTA -- A small cargo plane went down in a deep forest in Indonesia's North Kalimantan province, an official said on Saturday evening.

The wreckage of the plane, which lost contact on Friday while flying above the province in central Indonesia, was found on Saturday, spokesman of National Search and Rescue Office Agus Basori said. (Indonesia-Plane-Crash)

TOKYO -- Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has paid shiitake mushroom producers in the southwestern prefecture of Oita about 402 million yen (about 2.7 million U.S. dollars) in compensation for reputational damage caused by the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant disaster.

The Oita Prefecture Shiitake Agricultural Cooperatives announced earlier this week that it had reached the settlement dated Jan. 24 with TEPCO, the plant's operator, in an alternative dispute resolution proceeding involving 966 shiitake mushroom producers in the coastal prefecture.
