Brunei's central bank strengthens support for MSMEs

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's central bank has implemented measures to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) obtain financial loans more easily, a minister said Saturday.

Haji Mohd Amin Liew, minister at the prime minister's office and second minister of finance and economy of Brunei, said that the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank has implemented a series of measures including the collateral registry system and the credit score system.

Notices on equity-based crowdfunding and peer-to-peer financing have been issued respectively in past years, the minister said at a legislative council meeting, according to official media the Pelita Brunei.

The fintech regulatory sandbox has been introduced and so far two fintech companies are testing their digital financial services in Brunei, offering technology solutions to overcome financial issues faced by MSMEs in Brunei, said the minister. Enditem
