KABUL, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Afghan caretaker government's chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has emphasized maintaining good relations between Kabul and Islamabad.

"Maintaining good relations between Kabul and Islamabad is a necessity and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan desires to improve relations with all neighboring countries, including Pakistan," the local media outlet Tolonews quoted Mujahid on Monday as saying.

Mujahid made the remarks as a new government has been formed in Pakistan following the Feb. 8 general elections.

The spokesman urged Pakistan's new government to show flexibility with regard to the deportation of Afghan refugees.

More than 2.5 million Afghan immigrants have reportedly been living in Pakistan for decades. Enditem
