NAIROBI, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The Judiciary of Kenya on Monday launched e-filing in all courts nationwide to permit the electronic submission of court documents across the country in a bid to boost access to justice.

Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya Martha Koome told journalists in the national capital of Nairobi that the digital platform simplifies the filing, tracking and management of cases, and promotes transparency, accountability and responsiveness in the administration of justice.

"Our goal is to enhance productivity, automate processes, digitize services, and establish a paperless environment, thereby making justice more accessible and reducing the geographical barriers to accessing justice," Koome said. "This marks a giant leap in our commitment to transforming how we deliver justice through the strategic use of technology in alignment with the Social Transformation through Access to Justice blueprint of the Judiciary."

Koome noted that the web-based platform will enable legal practitioners and the public to engage with the justice system online, thereby improving accessibility, efficiency and inclusiveness.

She added that the Judiciary is actively improving Internet connectivity at all court stations with a view to ensuring stable and efficient access to digital services.

The chief justice also said the nationwide rollout of e-filing is a significant stride toward achieving a paperless judiciary and is in line with the commitment to green justice. Enditem
