LUANDA, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The Angolan Navy (MGA) seized two foreign vessels of Ghanaian nationality on Friday and Saturday, suspected of fuel smuggling and illegal fishing, local media reported Monday.
MGA spokesperson Sebastiao Gregorio said the two vessels, carrying seven and 11 people, were intercepted near Farol do Ambriz and Barra do Dande, according to Jornal de Angola.
The two vessels were found anchored within Angolan territorial waters without prior authorization from the authorities, Gregorio said. The Angolan Navy subsequently discovered traces of presumed illicit practices, ship documentation expired since 2021, and a lack of respective exit permits from their original port. Enditem
