KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's industrial production index (IPI) rebounded to 4.3 percent year-on-year in January, after recording a slight drop of 0.03 percent in December 2023, spurred by expansion in all sectors, official data showed Tuesday.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a note that the rebound in IPI marked the highest growth registered since May 2023.

The increase was spearheaded by a surge of 3.7 percent in the manufacturing sector as compared to a fall of 1.4 percent recorded in the previous month.

Additionally, the mining sector sustained its upward trend by registering 5 percent while the electricity sector accelerated at a faster pace of 8.3 percent.

In comparison with the preceding month, the IPI improved by 2 percent as against a decrease of 1.3 percent recorded in the previous month. Enditem
