JAKARTA -- The death toll from floods and landslides in the Indonesian province of West Sumatra has risen to 32, the country's National Disaster Mitigation Agency reported on Tuesday.

According to the agency, five of the province's 12 regencies had declared a state of disaster emergency as more than 1,500 houses, over 50 worship centers and over 10 roads were damaged by floods and landslides. (Indonesia-Flood-Landslide)

JAKARTA -- Two fishermen were killed and 24 others went missing after their ship sank in the waters off South Sulawesi province in central Indonesia, an official said on Tuesday.

The ship was hit by huge waves while sailing at the water off Selayar islands of the province on Saturday, yet the incident was found out by the residents of the islands where the victims were stranded at 19:00 p.m. local time Tuesday, said Muhammad Nursal, a press officer at the provincial search and rescue office. NICOSIA -- The first consignment of aid through the Cyprus-based corridor left on Tuesday morning for Gaza, with more aid expected to be shipped soon, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides announced.

"The journey of hope and humanity has just started," Christodoulides said in a statement after a ship owned by Spanish NGO (non-governmental organization) Open Arms left the Larnaca port in southern Cyprus, towing a barge loaded with food, water and pharmaceuticals. (Cyprus-Gaza-Aid)

BEIRUT -- One civilian was killed and ten others were wounded in a series of Israeli strikes on Baalbek city and its surrounding areas in eastern Lebanon on Tuesday, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.

The military sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the casualties resulted from four Israeli airstrikes targeting a residential building in the Dhour Al-Ayroun neighborhood in the vicinity of Sar'een town, a house in Sar'een, and another house on the outskirts of the village of Al-Nabi Shayth.
