Myanmar awaits approval to add traditional Thingyan festival to UNESCO lists

YANGON, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's traditional Thingyan festival (water festival) was submitted to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in March 2023 and the approval comes through at the end of this year, Aye Aye Thin, director of the National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw) told Xinhua on Thursday.

The Thingyan festival, the most significant annual festival in Myanmar, has been held since ancient times.

Water festival is called Thingyan in Myanmar and is celebrated in the middle of April. Enditem
