ALGIERS, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Algeria's energy giant, Sonatrach, announced on Thursday a memorandum of understanding signed with Italian firm ENI and Norwegian company Equinor to revitalize exploration and development activities in the oil and gas-rich regions of southern Algeria.

In a statement released on Thursday, Sonatrach highlighted the agreement's significance, emphasizing the "willingness of the parties to strengthen their partnership and extend their cooperation."

The memorandum outlines a "work program in order to relaunch the activities of exploration, assessment and development of the potential in the regions of In Salah and In Amenas in synergy with the existing facilities," notes the source.

The statement further underscores the longstanding collaboration between Sonatrach and its partners, operating under association contracts signed on December 1995 and June 1998 in the contractual areas of In Salah and In Amenas, situated within the vast expanse of the Algerian Sahara. Enditem
