LONDON, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The men's singles top seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark was knocked out of the quarterfinals by Indonesian Anthony Sinisuka Ginting at the All England Open Badminton Championships on Friday.

Olympic champion Axelsen took the first set 21-8, but a resilient Ginting ended his 11-match losing streak against the Dane by winning the following two sets 21-18, 21-19.

Fifth seed Ginting will fight for a final place against Christo Popov, as the Frenchman defeated Loki Watanabe from Japan 21-17, 21-10.

In the women's singles, China's Olympic champion Chen Yufei was outplayed by Spaniard Carolina Marin 21-17, 21-15 while world No. 1 An Se-young set up a semifinal clash with Japanese ace Akane Yamaguchi.

Chen, 26, admitted that she was not 100% fit during the tournament but insisted that it was not the reason of her loss. "I think I'm not confident enough on court and I could not adjust my game in time." Enditem
