AMMAN, March 17 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan and visiting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Sunday cautioned against the risk of an Israeli attack on Gaza's Rafah.

At a meeting in Jordan's port city of Aqaba, the king stressed the need for reaching an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the state-run Al Mamlaka TV reported.

Calling for increased efforts to protect civilians and deliver humanitarian aid to those in the region, the king reiterated Jordan's stance against any forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, as well as against any attempts to divide them.

The two leaders warned of the danger of an Israeli attack on Rafah, noting that it will exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The meeting also underscored the European Union's role in facilitating peace in the region, with the king urging effective steps to establish a political framework for attaining a fair and inclusive peace based on the two-state solution. Enditem
