Vietnam's capital records threefold increase in dengue fever cases

HANOI, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's capital has recorded 513 cases of dengue fever since the beginning of the year, triple compared to the same period 2023, local media reported Monday, citing Hanoi Center for Disease Control.

In recent weeks, the city has witnessed surging cases of dengue fever, averaging between 17-24 cases per week, Vietnam News reported.

Districts like Dong Da, Ha Dong, Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Bac Tu Liem, Chuong My and Thanh Xuan have emerged as hotspots with the highest number of patients.

The city's Department of Health has set a goal of establishing a 100 percent workforce of health collaborators in communes, wards and townships to support the protection, care and improvement of public health.

In 2023, Hanoi reported 36,795 dengue fever cases, according to the Ministry of Health.
