BISHKEK, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan on Monday called on the international community, especially Israel's main sponsor, the United States, to end the "genocide" in Gaza.
For six months now, the world has been observing the methodical destruction of the population in Gaza, said Edil Baisalov, deputy chairman of the cabinet of ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, at the opening of a photo exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the formation of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Baisalov emphasized that numerous children, along with United Nations (UN) staff members and journalists, had been killed, adding that "most of them were killed deliberately, and all these incidents are documented."
"In 2024, we are watching genocide live. We are watching live how two million Palestinians are suffering from hunger and the world can do nothing," said Baisalov.
Baisalov also emphasized Kyrgyzstan's condemnation of terrorism and its previous condemnation of the attack on Israeli civilians in October. He noted that Kyrgyzstan recognizes Israel's right to self-defense, but firmly asserted that the Israeli government "has no right to place itself above international law and the United Nations."
