TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended higher Tuesday, with the benchmark Nikkei finishing at a two-week-high above the 40,000 threshold, as a weaker yen boosted export-related issues.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 263.16 points, or 0.66 percent, from Monday at 40,003.60. (Japan-Tokyo Stocks)

COLOMBO -- Over 500,000 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka by March 14 this year, the latest statistics by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) shows.

The SLTDA data released on Monday showed that 517,808 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka in 2024, noting that it took Sri Lanka five months to cross the 500,000-tourist mark in 2023. (Sri Lanka-Tourism-Increase)

SEOUL -- South Korea's foreign currency deposit fell for the second straight month in February due to lower demand for the U.S. currency, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The deposit, denominated in foreign currencies, shrank 1.97 billion U.S. dollars from a month earlier to 96.13 billion dollars at the end of February after decreasing 5.78 billion dollars in the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea. (South Korea-Foreign Currency-Deposit) Enditem
