HANOI, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam attaches great importance to the policy advisory work made by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) enterprises as they play an important role in improving the Vietnamese economy's quality, said Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh while chairing a meeting with FDI enterprises in capital Hanoi on Tuesday.

He called on foreign investors and FDI enterprises to collaborate with Vietnam to achieve the green growth strategy and advance in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

FDI businesses were also urged to play a leading role in transferring technology and advancing innovation and research.

The prime minister asked development partners to step up their support for Vietnam's human resource development and training, especially high-quality labor force serving key economic sectors and important emerging fields.

According to the government leader, although the global FDI showed sign of declining in 2023, Vietnam remained a bright spot. Last year the country attracted nearly 36.6 billion U.S. dollars of the FDI, increasing 32.1 percent year-on-year.

As of the end of February 2024, Vietnam had over 39,500 valid FDI projects, with a total investment capital of more than 473 billion dollars, he said. Enditem
