HANOI -- Vietnam will implement a project worth about 375 million U.S. dollars to support infrastructure for low-carbon rice cultivation in the Mekong Delta region from 2026 to 2031, Vietnam News reported Tuesday, citing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

HARARE -- Over 52 percent of tobacco leaf in Zimbabwe is being grown by beneficiaries of the land reform program, a cabinet minister said Tuesday.

The number of growers has also increased 17-fold since the commencement of the land reform program, with over 85 percent of the tobacco currently being grown by the smallholder sector, said Jenfan Muswere, the minister of information, publicity and broadcasting services, at a press briefing. DHAKA -- Bangladesh's current account surplus increased significantly to more than 3 billion U.S. dollars from July 2023 to January this year under the current 2023-24 fiscal year ending in June.

According to the latest data, published by the Bangladesh Bank, the current account balance showed a surplus of 3,148 million dollars during the first seven months of the fiscal year against the deficit of 4,648 million dollars during the corresponding period of the previous 2022-23 fiscal year. SEOUL -- Ten automakers in South Korea were fined for selling cars with subpar safety standard, the transport ministry here said Wednesday.
