ACCRA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Ghana beat Nigeria 2-1 in the women's football final of the 13th African Games at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium late Thursday.

The host nation started the game slow with the defending champions of the African Games competition being more aggressive.

A goalkeeping mistake gifted Nigeria's Loveth Edeh the easy task of tapping the ball into the net for the visitor's first goal.

The Black Princesses of Ghana lifted their game after conceding but failed to score, ending the first half.

The Ghanaians came strongly in the second half with Tracy Twum scoring a brilliant goal in the 78 minute for the equalizer.

The two sides however failed to score again at the 90 minutes thereby pushing the game to extra time.

Early into extra time, Black Princesses star Mukarama Abdulai scored the winning goal for Ghana in the 99th minute.

Nigerians' attempt to come back did not materialize hence ending the match 2-1 after 120 minutes of play. Enditem
