JAKARTA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia confiscated 50 kg of crystal methamphetamine smuggled overland from Sabah, Malaysia to Nunukan, Indonesia, and arrested a suspect.

"From Tawau, Sabah, in Malaysia, the crystal methamphetamine will be brought to Pinrang in South Sulawesi," said North Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya on Friday.

Police arrested the suspect with piles of goods in two carts in South Nunukan on Tuesday.

X-ray scanner concluded that 50 packets in two plastic drums among the piles of goods in the carts were crystal methamphetamine.

The mastermind behind this smuggling, added Adityajaya, was allegedly a Malaysian who gave the suspect 5,000 ringgit (about 1,000 U.S. dollars) to bring the methamphetamine to Indonesia and promised to give an additional 30,000 ringgit (about 6,000 dollars) if the drug arrived in Pinrang. Enditem
