JERUSALEM, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Belgium's flag carrier, Brussels Airlines, resumed its flights to Israel on Sunday, following their suspension last year due to the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Operations in Israel for Brussels Airlines restarted with a direct flight between Brussels Airport and Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, including a partial schedule renewal of three weekly flights on the route until the end of April, according to the airline.

It added that frequencies and timings may be later adjusted in cooperation with all carriers of the parent company, Lufthansa Group.

The airline stated that the flights were restarted under a defined set of precautionary measures after careful consideration within all relevant departments.

Following a decision by the Lufthansa Group in December, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Swiss resumed flying to Israel in early January. However, the Belgian airline then decided not to renew the flights as, among other reasons, the passenger load factor was still very low.

British low-cost carrier EasyJet, one of the most active airlines at Ben Gurion Airport until the conflict outbreak, recently announced that it will resume its flights to Israel on Monday. Enditem
