KUALA LUMPUR -- Improving detection and raising awareness are needed to eradicate tuberculosis (TB), a Malaysian official said on Sunday.

Citing an increase in deaths from 2,572 in 2022 to 2,623 in 2023, Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said in a statement that efforts were underway to counter the disease. His statement came on the occasion of the World Tuberculosis Day, which is marked on March 24 every year. (Malaysia-TB)

KABUL -- The Afghan caretaker government has signed two contracts worth about 43 million U.S. dollars on power production and development, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), or the Afghan power company, said on Sunday.

The projects include a solar power facility with a capacity of 22.75 megawatts at Naghlo dam in Surubi district of Afghanistan's capital Kabul, and construction of high voltage lines and substations in the western Herat province, DABS said. (Afghanistan-Electricity Power)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia strongly condemned a deadly terrorist attack at a concert hall in the suburbs of Moscow late Friday, said a Cambodian foreign ministry's statement released on Sunday.

"We are shocked by the deaths of dozens of people and hundreds injured in a terrorist attack at the Moscow Crocus Concert Hall on March 22, 2024," the statement said. (Cambodia-Russia-Terrorist Attack)

JAKARTA -- The joint scientific expedition conducted by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency successfully dived 7,178 meters deep into the Java Trench in the Indian Ocean, setting the deepest dive record for Indonesia, the expedition team has said.

According to the team on Saturday, this joint expedition was successfully conducted from Feb. 23 to March 23, using the manned deep-sea submersible "Fendouzhe" of the CAS Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering. (Indonesia-China-Maritime Cooperation) Enditem
