MADRID, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Spain coach Luis de la Fuente put a positive note on his side's 1-0 defeat to Colombia on Friday night and looked ahead to Tuesday's friendly against Brazil in Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, which will be his last chance to look at players before naming his squad for this summer's European Championships.

"Defeats hurt, but we learn more from defeats than from a win, and the Colombia game was good for us. We have to try things, as we don't have many chances to do that," commented De la Fuente, who argued that his side had played well for 45 minutes against Colombia.

"We have learned from the circumstances. We want to continue learning and improving. If we had scored some in the first half, we would still have seen another game," he insisted.

"My concern is to strengthen our style, our model, with the aim of getting better every day," said the coach, who added that "although I believe in tactics, I believe more in the development of each player and their role on the pitch."

De la Fuente was also asked about the decision to play two South American rivals before the European Championships, rather than sides from Europe.

"We are happy with these rivals. I don't think the fact that they are South American countries will be a problem for us. They are two big games and we are happy they are our rivals, because they will demand a lot from us," he replied. Enditem
