YANGON, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 1 million stimulant tablets in the major city of Yangon, the state-run media Myanmar Digital News reported late Monday.

On March 21, the police received information that fugitives Thant Zin Oo and May Yu Tun were collaborating in transporting narcotic drugs from Yangon region to Sittwe and Buthidaung towns in Rakhine State.

Based on the tip-off, the police searched a house in Tamwe Township and arrested two suspects who were transporting the drugs.

Investigation based on information from the suspects led authorities to search a cargo ship, where 1 million stimulant tablets valued at 1 billion kyats (476,000 U.S. dollars) were discovered.

Further investigation is underway. Enditem
