KABUL, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Cases of tuberculosis declined by 5.5 percent in Afghanistan year on year in 2023, the country's Ministry of Public Health said on Monday.
In 2023, 49,533 cases of tuberculosis were recorded in Afghanistan, said Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, spokesperson of the ministry.
Over 870 treatment centers are active in Afghanistan to cure patients with tuberculosis, said Amarkhil, adding that diagnostic machines are also operating in more than 90 centers across the country.
