ISLAMABAD -- Five Chinese nationals and one Pakistani were killed in a terrorist attack in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province on Tuesday, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan confirmed.

The attack happened at about 1:00 p.m. local time (0800 GMT) when a vehicle from the Dasu Hydropower Project, being constructed by a Chinese company in the province, was attacked by terrorists, the embassy said in a statement. (Pakistan-Attack-Chinese)

BANGKOK -- Thailand's auto production continued to shrink in February due to a decline in manufacturing for the local market and higher imported electric vehicles, data from the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) showed on Tuesday.

Thai auto manufacturers produced 133,690 vehicles last month, down 19.28 percent from a year earlier, owing to a major decline in pickup truck and internal combustion engine passenger car output, according to the FTI. (Thailand-Auto Production)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's central bank decided to reduce the Standing Deposit Facility Rate (SDFR) and the Standing Lending Facility Rate (SLFR) by 50 basis points to 8.50 percent and 9.50 percent respectively, the bank's statement said on Tuesday.

TOKYO -- Japanese drugmaker Kobayashi Pharmaceutical on Tuesday disclosed that one person has died after taking their supplement product containing "beni-koji," or red yeast rice, raising concerns about potential health hazards associated with the ingredient.

The deceased, who suffered kidney damage, is believed to have consumed a supplement product containing yeast-fermented rice produced by the company for approximately three years, according to the latest announcement of the company, which is currently investigating the link between their product and the reported fatality while urging consumers to cease the use of the affected products.
