LIMA, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Paolo Guerrero struck his first international goal in almost five years as Peru cruised to a 4-1 home victory over the Dominican Republic here on Tuesday.

Sergio Pena and Jesus Castillo netted first-half goals for the hosts, before Piero Quispe made it 3-0 by slotting home after a perfectly weighted Edison Flores through ball.

The visitors reduced the deficit just before the hour when Jean Carlos Lopez curled a long-range effort beyond the reach of goalkeeper Noam Baumann.

Guerrero, a 71st-minute substitute for Flores, put the result beyond doubt by converting from the penalty spot after Charbel Wehbe pulled down Jose Rivera in stoppage time.

The last time Guerrero scored for Peru was in the final of the 2019 Copa America in Brazil. He now has 39 goals in 117 appearances for the Blanquirroja dating back to his debut in October 2004. Enditem
