ULAN BATOR, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Two nomadic herders in their 80s were missing in Mongolia due to blizzards, the country's emergency authority said Thursday.

The search for the missing people in the western province of Zavkhan and the southwestern province of Bayankhongor was underway, the National Emergency Management Agency said in a statement.

Strong winds, dust storms and blizzards have been hitting large parts of Mongolia since Tuesday evening, causing poor visibility.

The agency urged Mongolians, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters.

According to the country's weather monitoring agency, the inclement weather conditions across Mongolia are expected to continue through the weekend.

Mongolia has a harsh continental climate, and strong winds, snow and dust storms are common in spring. Enditem
