MOSCOW, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The possibility of expanding the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is not excluded, Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said on Thursday.

Amidst the changing geopolitical landscape and the resurgence of both historical and new conflicts, Tasmagambetov highlighted the growing necessity for such alliances. The CSTO currently comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.

"Of course, such a possibility is not excluded in principle. The fact is that in the conditions of the breakdown of the old world order, accompanied by the resumption of old and the emergence of new conflicts, the need for a military-political alliance increases significantly. This is natural and confirmed by history," Tasmagambetov said.

"The CSTO offers favorable conditions, including democratic decision-making and prioritizing political solutions for crises," he said. Enditem
